5 Ways (+1) to Give

December is a great time to think about giving–and to look back at the past year’s successes. In 2016 we took many steps towards furthering our mission of developing the full potential of individuals with autism. Progress came through hard work, compassion and extreme generosity.

Parents of students, employees, board members, volunteers, business leaders–the list of AMS supporters from 2016 goes on and on.

In keeping with the spirit of the season, here are 5 ways to give to AMS in 2017.

1- Click to Give

Supporting the school through an online donation is one way to ensure the stars of AMS–our students–shine bright in the new year.

Giving Tuesday is a success story from last year, as we raised over $1,200 for extracurricular programs like Garden Club and Dance Till U Shine.

2- Stock up on Supplies

If you are a parent, you can make an immediate positive impact by donating supplies to your student’s classroom. Simply check with your child’s teacher to see which items will benefit the classroom.

A few examples of items that were donated in 2016 include snacks, video games and scooters.

3- Be a Hero

Each year the school puts out calls for volunteers. From decorating for the “Dancing through Wonderland” prom to serving refreshments to runners at the Glass City Marathon to building garden beds from scratch, volunteers shined bright in 2016. We anticipate an even bigger year for volunteers in 2017.

4- Tell em’ “Thanks”

In seeking to create an environment where every student is a star, the school relies heavily upon the talents, energy and enthusiasm of highly trained teachers, paraprofessionals, clinical specialists, van drivers and administrators.

If you’ve been inspired by the efforts of an AMS employee, a “thank you” note is a simple–and powerful–way to show your appreciation.

5- Spread the News

Like us on Facebook. Follow us on Twitter. And, most importantly, help show the community the great things happening at AMS by sharing our posts.

BONUS – Community Rewards

If you shop at Kroger, you can link your Plus Card to AMS so a percentage of all your purchases directly benefits the school. Thanks to a Facebook Fan for reminding me of this one!

Thanks for all you’ve done to help us have a successful year–and thanks in advance for showing your AMS Star Power in 2017!
