The Archer classroom is working hard on both vocational and academic tasks. On Mondays and Wednesdays we have a full day of working on our functional academics such as telling time, using money to purchase items, speech and reading comprehension.
On Tuesday and Thursday mornings all six students are going to work. The students have three off campus worksites and we will be adding a fourth this year. They still work at TJ Maxx in Spring Meadows where the job responsibilities include: using box cutters to unpack boxes, placing price tags on some items, and then sorting the items into categories. At “My Brother’s Place”, a restaurant in downtown Toledo, the students wash dishes, pick vegetables, roll silverware and wipe tables. Their final off campus work site is in Rossford as Welch’s Gold carts. Here they do office work, wash the carts and clean storage units.
The Archer Classroom is working on becoming more independent in our tasks such as: using the bathroom, preparing lunch, getting ready for work and moving from station to station with the needed supplies. The students are doing very well with this!
In the Archer classroom, we strive to perform well in both academics and functional life skills. We hope to prepare our students with the skills and abilities needed for whatever future goals they may have.
