Centaurus Classroom

Teacher: Mrs. Lisa Sigman
Paraprofessionals: Ms. Kelli and Mr. Luke

Students in the Centaurus classroom participate in the usual subjects that most students have in school. Every day our students have math, and reading. They have either science or social studies two days a week. Most of the curriculum for these subjects (with the exception of science and social studies) is taken from either the Ohio Academic Content Standards or from the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABBLS).

In addition to these classes, our students participate in a variety of other activities during their school day. Every day some or all of our students have ITT, occupational therapy, speech therapy, writing, typing, and spelling. In these classes we work with our students on being able to communicate both verbally and through written language.

Our students don’t spend all of their time in the classroom though. Once a week our students go out in the community to eat lunch. Our students also go to the school library and/or the public library at least once a week. We have recently partnered up with another classroom and once a month will do an activity or have a party with that room. We also have students that go out into the community on a weekly basis and work at a job site.
