Our classroom is designed for students with Asperger’s Syndrome. These students primarily use the Plato curriculum for the student’s academics. Each student has classes in math, science, language arts, health and social studies.
The students also participate in social thinking group 3-4 times per week. This is sometimes done with the teacher and sometimes with Sherry Moyer. Sherry works at the University of Toledo and has developed The Eclipse Model. This Model teaches self-regulation, executive function, attribution and sensory awareness.
The students participate in gym and cooking weekly. We will taking advantage of the gym space and learning hw to play various sports and games. In cooking, the students go the kitchen in groups of two and cook a different, easy meal every week. We have made cookies, omelets and pizza.
