Saturn Classroom

Teacher: Miss Tiffany Newell
Paraprofessional: Miss Vicki

Welcome to the Saturn classroom!  In our class, we focus on academics while regularly working on life and employ-ability skills.  In reading, students read books in groups and answer comprehension questions afterward.  We also work on selected vocabulary terms from the chapters we read over a week.  In writing, students mostly address grammar and writing conventions, such as verb tense, apostrophes, commas, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.  In math, we cover a variety of topics with different students, such as money, time, multiplication, division, place value, greater/less than, and fractions.

We also work on speech and OT goals individually, typically consisting of following oral directions, problem solving given a situation, putting away laundry, and hanging clothes.  You can also find us working out in the gym in the morning, playing hard at recess, and doing jobs (chores) at the end of the day.  We value our out-of-school work experiences and encourage speakers or field trips to promote career exploration.  Our students work hard and, for their efforts, earn a reward at the end of each month such as pizza, McDonald’s, or a fun field trip.  Saturn is a great place to be!
